The grinding noise in your brakes could be the result of worn brake pads or a faulty brake caliper. It's important to have this issue checked and repaired by a certified mechanic as soon as possible.

It's possible that your brake rotors have become warped due to excessive heat or wear. This can also cause a grinding noise. Have your brake rotors inspected and replaced if necessary.

If your Kia Sportage is equipped with drum brakes, the grinding noise could be caused by worn brake shoes. Have them replaced by a professional mechanic.
