I just bought a used Kia Sportage and I'm not sure how to change the oil. Can someone give me step-by-step instructions?
ReplyFirst, you will need an oil filter, oil, and an oil filter wrench. Park your Kia Sportage on a flat surface and locate the oil pan underneath the car. Unscrew the drain plug and let all the old oil drain out. Once it's completely drained, screw the plug back in and move on to the oil filter.
Using your oil filter wrench, loosen the old oil filter and remove it. Make sure to clean around the area where the filter sits to ensure a proper seal. Take your new oil filter and lightly coat the rubber seal with fresh oil. Screw the new filter in place.
Now it's time to add fresh oil. Check your owner's manual to find out the recommended type and amount of oil for your Kia Sportage. Using a funnel, pour the oil into the oil fill cap. Check the dipstick to make sure the oil is at the correct level. Remember to dispose of your old oil and filter properly.
