How do I check the transmission fluid on my Kia Sorento?

I noticed that my Kia Sorento is not shifting smoothly, and I am worried that the transmission fluid might be low. How can I check the level and top it off if needed?

Hi Sarah! Checking the transmission fluid on a Kia Sorento is a simple process. First, make sure your car is on a level surface and the engine is warm. Then, locate the transmission dipstick (usually marked with a yellow handle) and pull it out. Wipe the dipstick clean, reinsert it, and pull it out again. The fluid level should be between the two marks on the dipstick. If it is low, you can top it off with the specified type of transmission fluid.

Hi Sarah! Another thing to keep in mind when checking your transmission fluid is the color and smell. If the fluid is a dark or burnt color and gives off a burnt smell, it may indicate a bigger issue with your transmission. In that case, it's best to take your car to a mechanic for a professional diagnosis.

Hey Sarah, in addition to checking the fluid level and quality, make sure to also check for any leaks. If you notice any red fluid on the ground where you park your car, it could be a sign of a leak. In that case, it's important to get it fixed as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your transmission.
