How do I properly calibrate the blind spot detection system on my Kia Soul?

I recently purchased a Kia Soul and I'm having trouble with the blind spot detection system. I've noticed that it's not always detecting other vehicles in my blind spot and I'm concerned about the accuracy. How can I ensure that the system is correctly calibrated?

Samantha, the first step is to make sure that the sensors are clean. Dirt or debris can interfere with the system's accuracy. Also, check the angles of the sensors to make sure they are properly aligned. You can refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions.

Hi Samantha, another thing to consider is the placement of the blind spot detection system control button. If it's too close to the steering wheel, it could be causing false readings. Try moving it to a different location to see if that improves the accuracy.

Samantha, have you tried resetting the system? Sometimes recalibrating the system can improve its accuracy. You can do this by holding down the blind spot detection button for a few seconds until it beeps. Then try driving and see if there are any improvements.
