How to reset the engine warning light in a Kia Sportage?

I recently got the engine warning light in my Kia Sportage. I've checked all the basics but it won't turn off. How can I reset it?

Firstly, make sure you have addressed any underlying issues that may have triggered the warning light. Once that is confirmed, try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes reset the warning light.

There should be a fuse for the engine control module (ECM) in the fuse box. Check to see if it's blown and replace it if necessary. This could also reset the warning light.

If the above methods don't work, it's best to take your Kia Sportage to a mechanic to have it scanned for any error codes. They will be able to determine the root cause of the warning light and reset it for you.
