Is It Necessary to Change the Transmission Fluid in a Kia Sportage?

I recently bought a used Kia Sportage with over 100,000 miles on it. I noticed that the previous owner did not mention changing the transmission fluid in the maintenance records. Should I change the transmission fluid now or is it too late?

Jennifer, it's never too late to change the transmission fluid. In fact, it's recommended to change it every 30,000-60,000 miles depending on the type of driving you do (city vs. highway). Neglecting to change the transmission fluid can lead to damage and expensive repairs down the road.

Hey Jennifer, I have been a certified mechanic for over 20 years and I strongly advise you to change the transmission fluid immediately. Over time, the fluid can become contaminated with dirt and debris, causing it to break down and lose its effectiveness. This can lead to premature wear and tear on your transmission, resulting in costly repairs.

Jennifer, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to car maintenance. If there is any doubt about the condition of the transmission fluid, it's best to just change it. It's a relatively inexpensive and easy procedure that can save you from larger issues in the future.
