Understanding the ECO driving mode

I recently purchased a Kia Niro and came across a feature called ECO driving mode. Can someone explain what it does and if it's worth using?

ECO driving mode limits the engine power and adjusts the air conditioning for better fuel efficiency. It's great for city driving and can save you money on gas in the long run. However, for better performance, I suggest switching back to normal mode on highways or when you need more power.
