What can cause a grinding noise in my Kia Ceed?

Recently, my Kia Ceed has been making a grinding noise when I start the engine or drive at low speeds. It seems to be coming from the front of the car. What could be causing this and how can I prevent it?

Another possible cause could be a damaged wheel bearing. This can also create a grinding noise when the car is moving.
