What does the 'Eco' mode do in the Kia Rio?

I recently bought a Kia Rio and noticed there is an 'Eco' mode button next to the gear shift. Can someone explain what this mode does and if I should use it?

The 'Eco' mode is designed to improve fuel efficiency by adjusting the engine and transmission settings. It can be useful for longer trips or when driving on highways.

I personally find that the 'Eco' mode makes the car feel sluggish and unresponsive. I would only use it if you absolutely need to save on gas.
