What is causing my Kia Niro's check engine light to come on?

I recently purchased a Kia Niro and after a few weeks of driving, the check engine light has turned on. I'm not sure what could be causing this and I'm worried it's a serious issue. What should I do?

First, don't panic. The check engine light can come on for a variety of reasons, some of which are not serious. The best thing to do is to take your car to a certified mechanic who can use a diagnostic tool to determine the exact cause of the light.

It's possible that something as simple as a loose gas cap could be causing the check engine light to turn on. Try tightening the cap and see if the light goes off. If not, definitely take your car to a mechanic to get it checked out.

Another common reason for the check engine light is a faulty oxygen sensor. This is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix, but it's important to get it taken care of in order to avoid damage to other parts of your car.
