I have recently purchased a Kia Stonic and noticed that it has a Lane Keeping Assist System. However, I am not sure what the system does and if it is necessary. Can you give me some information on the function of this system?
ReplyThe Lane Keeping Assist System is designed to help keep your vehicle in its designated lane by providing gentle steering assistance. It uses a camera to detect lane markings and if you start to veer out of your lane without using your turn signal, the system will gently steer you back into your lane. It is a helpful feature, especially for long highway drives as it can reduce unintentional lane departures.
In my experience, the Lane Keeping Assist System can be useful for preventing accidents caused by lane drifting or drowsiness. However, I would recommend keeping your hands on the steering wheel at all times and not relying solely on this system, as it is not meant to replace safe driving habits.
I have found that the Lane Keeping Assist System can be easily disabled if needed. Sometimes, if the roads are not clearly marked or if you are in heavy traffic, the system can become a bit too sensitive and can be distracting. So don't be afraid to turn it off if you feel more comfortable driving without it.
