Why does my Kia Sorento have a jerking sensation when shifting gears?

I recently purchased a Kia Sorento and have noticed a jerking sensation when shifting gears, especially from first to second. This only happens sporadically, but it's still concerning. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Hi Sarah, thanks for reaching out. The jerking sensation you're experiencing could be due to several factors. It's possible that there is an issue with the transmission fluid or the transmission itself. It's also possible that there is a problem with the engine or the fuel system. I highly recommend taking your Kia Sorento to a certified mechanic for a diagnostic test. They will be able to accurately pinpoint the issue and provide a solution. In the meantime, try to avoid shifting gears too quickly or abruptly. Best of luck!

Hi Sarah, I also had a similar issue with my Kia Sorento. After doing some research, I found out that it was caused by a faulty throttle position sensor. I would suggest getting that checked out as it can cause jerking and other shifting issues. Hope this helps!

Hi Sarah, I've had my Kia Sorento for a few years now and experienced the same issue. I took it to the dealership and they found that there was a glitch in the transmission control module software. They updated it and I haven't had any issues since. It's worth looking into!
