Why does my Kia Sportage make a rattling noise when driving over bumps?

I recently noticed that my Kia Sportage makes a rattling noise whenever I drive over bumps or rough terrain. It seems to be coming from under the car and I'm concerned about potential damage. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Jack, I've had a similar issue with my Kia Sportage and it turned out to be loose exhaust heat shields. They can rattle when they become loose and affect the overall stability of your car. I would recommend taking your car to a mechanic and having them check the heat shields.

Hey Jack, another potential cause could be worn out suspension components. If your shocks or struts are old and worn, they may start to make noise when driving over bumps. I would suggest having a professional inspect your suspension system for any signs of wear and tear.

Hi Jack, it's also possible that the rattling noise is coming from loose or damaged body panels. Check for any loose screws or bolts on the exterior of your car and tighten or replace them if necessary. If the problem persists, have a mechanic check for any damaged panels.
