Why is my Kia Ceed's transmission making a grinding noise?

I recently bought a Kia Ceed and noticed that the transmission is making a grinding noise when shifting gears. Is this something I should be concerned about and what could be causing it?

It's normal for a new car to make some noise while the transmission is breaking in.
