Why is my Kia Niro's gas mileage getting worse?

I've noticed that my Kia Niro's gas mileage has been decreasing over time. I used to get around 50 mpg, but now I'm lucky to get 40 mpg. What could be causing this decrease in efficiency?

Hi Samantha, there could be a few reasons for the decrease in your Kia Niro's gas mileage. One possibility is that your tires may be underinflated, as this can greatly affect your car's efficiency. Another possibility is that your air filter may be dirty and in need of replacement. You should also make sure that you are using the recommended fuel for your car. Lastly, it's always a good idea to get a tune-up and regular maintenance for your car to keep it running at its best.

It's normal for gas mileage to decrease over time as your car gets older. However, if you've noticed a sudden decrease in efficiency, it could be a sign of a larger issue. I would suggest getting your car checked by a mechanic to make sure everything is running smoothly. It's also important to practice good driving habits, such as avoiding idling and driving at a consistent speed, to improve your gas mileage.

Have you recently moved to a new area or started driving in different traffic conditions? These factors can greatly affect your gas mileage. Additionally, try to avoid using your air conditioning or heating as much as possible, as these can also decrease efficiency. As always, proper maintenance and driving habits are key to ensuring your car's gas mileage stays consistent.
