Why is my Kia Rio making a knocking sound?

I recently noticed that my Kia Rio is making a knocking sound when I start the engine. It goes away after a few seconds, but it has me worried. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

Hi Jonathan, the knocking sound you are hearing could be caused by a few different things. It could be a problem with your engine's valves, causing them to hit against each other. It could also be a sign of low oil pressure, which can be damaging if not addressed. It's best to have a mechanic take a look at your car to diagnose the issue and make any necessary repairs.

Hey Jonathan, it's always a good idea to have any unusual sounds in your car checked out by a professional. The knocking noise could be a sign of worn out engine bearings, which is a more serious issue. It's better to be safe than sorry and have a mechanic look at it as soon as possible.

Hi Jonathan, I've had a similar issue with my own Kia Rio before. It turned out to be a problem with the spark plugs, which had become worn out and needed to be replaced. It's a fairly simple and inexpensive fix, so I would suggest having your spark plugs checked first.
