Why is the Kia Ceed's engine making a knocking sound?

I recently purchased a Kia Ceed and noticed that the engine is making a knocking sound. It's not very loud, but it's noticeable. Is this a cause for concern or is it a normal sound?

Hi Daniel, thanks for reaching out. The knocking sound could be caused by a few things. It's not normal for a new car to make such sounds, so it's best to have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible. It could be a sign of a faulty engine or loose parts.

Hello Daniel, I also have a Kia Ceed and experienced the same issue. It turned out to be a defective spark plug. I suggest taking your car to a Kia dealership for a thorough inspection and repair.

Hi Daniel, don't panic just yet. The knocking sound could also be due to low oil levels or old/dirty oil. Check your oil level and if it's low, top it up with the recommended type. If the sound persists, it's best to take it to a trusted mechanic.

Hello Daniel, I had the same issue with my Kia Ceed. It turned out to be a loose heat shield. Get it tightened and the sound should go away.
