Why is there a burning smell coming from the AC in my Kia Sportage?

I just purchased a used Kia Sportage and have noticed a burning smell coming from the AC when I turn it on. It seems to dissipate after a few minutes, but I'm concerned it could be a sign of a larger issue. Has anyone else experienced this with their Sportage? Any advice on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Samantha, I had the same issue with my Kia Sportage. It's most likely caused by a dirty air filter. I recommend changing it to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you may need to have your AC system checked by a mechanic.

Hello Samantha, I had a similar problem with my Sportage and it turned out to be a faulty AC compressor. If changing the air filter doesn't help, I suggest taking it to a certified mechanic to have it inspected.

Hi Samantha, one possible cause could be a blocked drainage tube in the AC system. Make sure to check and clean it out if needed. If that doesn't solve the issue, it might be a sign of a more serious problem and you should bring it to a mechanic for further diagnosis.
