How do I change the front brake pads on a Kia Ceed?

I've noticed that my brake pads are starting to wear down and I want to change them myself. Can someone walk me through the steps?

Changing brake pads can be intimidating at first, but it's actually a straightforward process. First, you'll need to lift the car up using a jack and secure it with jack stands. Then, remove the wheel and you'll see the brake caliper and rotor. Before removing the caliper, make sure to loosen the brake hose to prevent damage.

Once the caliper is removed, you can easily access the brake pads. Make sure to replace both the pads and the rotors at the same time for maximum efficiency. Put everything back in reverse order and remember to pump the brake pedal a few times to reset the caliper. And don't forget to properly dispose of the old brake pads!

If you're not comfortable changing the brake pads on your own, don't hesitate to take it to a professional mechanic. It's important that these crucial components are installed correctly to ensure your safety on the road.
