I just bought my Kia Ceed and I'm not sure how to properly check the engine oil level. Can someone give me some guidance?
ReplyFirst, park your car on a level surface and let the engine cool down. Locate the dipstick of the engine oil, it usually has a brightly colored handle. Pull it out and wipe the end clean with a cloth. Reinsert the dipstick all the way back in, then pull it out and check the level. The oil should be between the two markers on the dipstick. If it's below the lower marker, you need to add more oil. If it's above the upper marker, you have too much oil and should drain some out.
To further ensure the accuracy of the engine oil level, it's best to check it in the morning before you start the engine. This will give the oil enough time to settle back into the oil pan.
