Why does my Kia Rio emit a squealing noise while braking?

I recently noticed that my Kia Rio makes a loud squealing noise whenever I press the brake pedal. This started happening after I had my brake pads replaced. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

The squealing noise could be a sign of worn brake pads or rotor damage. It is best to have your brakes inspected by a certified mechanic to determine the exact cause.

The brake pads may not have been installed properly or the wrong type of pads could have been used. You should take your car back to the mechanic who replaced the pads to have them checked.

If you frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic, the brake pads can accumulate a layer of dust and debris which can cause the squealing noise. Try cleaning your brake pads with brake cleaner.

Sometimes, the brake pads just need to be worn in. After a few hundred miles, the noise may go away. However, if the noise persists, it's best to have your brakes checked by a professional.
