Why does my Kia Sorento make a grinding noise when I brake?

I've noticed that whenever I brake, my Kia Sorento makes this grinding noise. It's been happening for a few weeks now and I'm worried it might be a sign of a bigger issue. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Samantha, thanks for reaching out. The grinding noise you're hearing when you brake could be an indication that your brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. It's important to get this taken care of as soon as possible to prevent any further damage to your braking system.

Hey Samantha, I had a similar issue with my Kia Sorento a few months ago. It turned out to be a problem with the brake rotor, which needed to be resurfaced. I would recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic to have it checked out.

Hi Samantha, I've also experienced this issue with my Kia Sorento. In my case, it was caused by a build-up of debris on the brake pads. I would suggest cleaning your brakes to see if that solves the problem before taking it to a mechanic.
