Why is my Kia Rio engine making a knocking noise?

I have noticed that my Kia Rio engine has started making a strange knocking noise. It seems to happen more often when I am accelerating. What could be causing this and what should I do?

It is possible that the knocking noise is due to low engine oil levels. Check your oil and top it off if necessary.

A

Another potential cause could be worn out engine bearings. This is a more serious issue that should be looked at by a mechanic.

S

If the noise only occurs when the engine is cold, it could be a sign of a faulty valve lifter. Have a mechanic check this out.

Make sure to use high quality fuel in your Kia Rio. Using lower quality fuel can lead to engine knocking.
