To check the oil level, park your Kia Sportage on a level surface and wait for the engine to cool down. Locate the dipstick, which is usually yellow in color and has a T-shaped handle. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth. Then, reinsert the dipstick all the way and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the two marks on the dipstick. If it is below the bottom mark, you will need to add more oil.

Don't forget to also check the oil color and consistency while you're at it. If the oil appears dark and dirty, it may be time for an oil change. Additionally, if it feels gritty between your fingers, it may be contaminated and require immediate attention. In either case, it is best to consult with a professional mechanic for further advice.

If you do need to add more oil, make sure to use the type and viscosity grade recommended in your owner's manual. Slowly pour the oil into the engine using a funnel to avoid spills. Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle, then check the level again with the dipstick. Be careful not to overfill, as this can lead to engine damage.
